I must ust say, a lot is going on in February. We have Valentine’s Day, Go Red (heart awareness), Ash Wednesday, a 29th Day and BLACK HISTORY MONTH.
I love learning, teaching and sharing the accomplishments of my people (past and present). Since we all love to travel and adventure, it only makes sense my Black History Spotlight is a trailblazer in the travel and adventure domain, Kellee Edwards.
Let me tell you about this extraordinary lady. She went from a banker to a vlogger, Kellee Set Go. Talk about a transformation, huh? Well, Kellee’s personality and amazing content caught the attention of several TV stations, which landed her a job to host a travel show. Making Kellee Edwards the 1st African American to host an adventure travel series.
From there, Kellee’s career took off. And, I mean she started to fly. Literally! Kellee wanted to explore the world and decided to become a licensed pilot. Even though, she’s afraid of height. Imagine that? And, if that’s not enough for you then wait until you hear this. Kellee wanted to get the most out of every adventure so she got her scuba diving certification. Now, she’s an advance and experienced diver.
With Kellee Edwards’ successful travel journalist career, Travel and Leisure magazine feature, Ford tv commercial, travel show, and all her other accomplishments, she had become an inspiration to me and so many other black women in the travel industry. Beyond her awesome achievements, Kellee’s main focus is to break barriers and encourage women to move past their comfort zone to adventure out and explore.
You know, Black history doesn’t end in February. You can commemorate black history through your travels. Speaking of such here’s a few bloggers who can tell you the ins and outs on how to do just that. Check out the founders of BLK MKT vintage and Jessica Nabongo.
P.S. So go-ahead Lead like Martin, Speak Out like Frederick, Learn like Booker, Help like Harriet, Stay Strong like Rosa, Achieve like Shirley, Inspire like Maya and Believe like Barack.
