It’s time to celebrate! Not just for me but for all women around the world because it’s International Women’s Day. We’re acknowledging women’s achievements; economically, politically and socially, and taking effective action to advance and recognize women while working towards greater equality. It’s time to Make It Happen!
Ironically, at church, we celebrated women’s day. It’s a day we set aside to worship and praise in unity. We wore black attire with silver scarves with butterfly pins on them. We had a special theme, transformation through prayer (the butterflies fit in with the theme). And, of course we had a guest speaker to give the sermon. As I was listening to the preacher, she said, “in order to transform something we need to be filled with God’s word, renew our minds and think bigger.”
With this message in the forefront of my mind, I realized how well it fits into the International Women’s Day theme. As women, we need to think bigger and stop thinking small minded. When that happens, we’ll believe ourselves more, speak up, lead, support and eventually impact others and MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I’ve a question for you…what is your “Women’s Rights” project? Is it studying abroad, travelling to foreign country you never been to, taking a leadership role in your community, expressing yourself in the arts, starting a business? Seriously, I want to know. And, if you don’t have one then I’m challenging you to create a “make it happen” project. Leave me a comment. I want to know what is brewing around in your head. Let’s chat. Happy International Day!
P.S. I’ll let you know in on my “Women’s Right” project really soon. Just be a little patient with me 🙂 Just to keep you in the know…here are a few incredible achievements to make you happy this International Women’s Day. First, women’s representation in Washington D.C. is higher than it’s ever been in the past. Secondly, self-made women billionaires are on the rise. And, there’s an increased amount of women-owned businesses in the U.S. We definitely have something to celebrate. Remember, leave me a comment!
