Let’s face it, as women; we don’t think it will ever happen to us. But, the truth is heart disease effects 1 in 3 women. Honestly, I didn’t think much of it until my mother had a heart attack nearly 8 years ago. Thankfully, I’m blessed to still have her with me. And, she recovered fairly quickly. For this reason, I think it’s important to understand what it means to Go Red For Women….
- G: Get your numbers – make sure your doctor check your blood pressure and cholesterol.
- O: Own your lifestyle – know the importance of eating right, exercising and losing weight.
- R: Realize your risk – find out your family health history & know the high risk of heart disease.
- E: Educate your family – teach your family to eat healthy and stay active.
- D: Don’t be silent – let it be known that heart disease harms 1 in 3 women every year.
So here are a few ways to celebrate National Wear Red Day, you can wear red, donate, start a fundraiser or take the Go Red Heart Check-up. By the way, in support of National Wear Red day, head over to www.goredforwomen.org to see what difference you can make for yourself and others.
So, go ahead and sport your RED proudly. Besides, as women we don’t have time to be bogged down with health issues. We have a world to see 🙂 Leave me a comment and let’s chat away! Take care.
Hugs,
