Now, you probably know the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks show is the largest in the nation. So, I decided to venture out and see the fireworks live in NYC. My plans were all set and I was so excited…..
Okay, I must admit I thought my plans were going to be a wash out. Hurricane Arthur was steadily coming up the eastern coast and started to damper my plans. First, I thought the rain was coming in the morning and moving out in the afternoon. Then, I watched the weather report further and it said the rain wasn’t going to stop until 10 pm. What, that’s the whole day! I spent nearly an hour on the phone with my friends having the “what should we do, what should we do” conversation. We started to talk about different suggestions and alternatives to figure things out. We were running around in circles because it was still raining outside. Then, my friend said, “let me give you a call back.” Ugh!
Over an hour later, the rain stopped and the sun started to peek through the clouds. Since the rain stopped and my friend needed to go to NJ anyway, we decided to go for the gusto. We headed out to NYC with a “semi-plan” of parking uptown and taking a subway to the fireworks festivities. We got to NY in a flash because we decided to take the midtown tunnel instead of the 59th street Bridge. It was too much traffic off the Van Dam exit and we might have taken a chance of missing everything. We found free parking without a problem (that’s a huge accomplishment in NYC). And, walked to the subway and tried to follow the directions from the “best viewing areas” article. With a lot of questions, frustration and rushing, I called my Dad (who is a human GPS from being a NYC truck driver for over 30 years) to get directions to the Brooklyn Bridge. He told us to take the 6 train to Brooklyn Bridge. And, of course, Dad was right on target.
There was a mob of people and we weren’t sure if we could find a good spot. However, a police officer told us an inside secret. And, we were able to stand on a ramp between the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge. We were in the perfect spot to see the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular…just take a look!
Everything worked out great and it was a fantastic 4th of July. So, if you are in the NYC area, then you have to see the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks live in person. It will blow you away….yes, it’s that great! You don’t want to brother with the crowd then don’t bother with it. You can book a 4th of July cruise and watch the fireworkds from the boat. Just a thought but it’s worth seeing. Well, that’s my adventure for the 4th of July. On Sunday, I’m going to the Mets baseball game, another 4th of July tradition. Enjoy your holiday weekend. Let me a comment and tell me your thoughts! Take care for now.
Hugs,
