So the other day (February 25th to be exact) I attended a taping of the Rachael Ray Show. This was my third time attending and let me tell you – the experience is always different and always fun!
Getting there was a bit hectic – although we allowed for 3 hours, it took us just that to get to the city. Traffic was horrendous as always – heightened by morning rush hour. My nerves were frazzled and there was no doubt that my blood pressure was high. The icing on the cake was when the street we had to go down was closed and we couldn’t park in the garage we would normally park in. Anyhoo, it was like they were waiting for us and we went in without a hitch. We had guaranteed seats and it felt great to skip all the general admission people!
We got in and followed all the instructions. We waited in the audience waiting room where they had some snacks. Afterward we were herded into the studio and were given more instructions. The audience warm up guy was one we had seen before because he warmed us up for “Serch”, the other talk show we went to a few months back. We had fun laughing at his jokes – we should since he’s a professional comedian!
Rachael came out with Sunny Anderson who is on Food Network. They talked and we played a game called “In the Bag”…alternating audience members had paper bags with an ingredient in each bag. Two chefs went head to head in choosing bags with the mystery ingredients and they were to come up with a dish. Audience members whose bags were chosen were to be judges of which chef should win. The two chefs were: Aron Sanchez and Geoffry Zakarian….their prize was a golden paper bag of groceries. The smell in the studio was intoxicating and we were getting super hungry!!!! Scott Wolf was a guest and my, what a cutie! I still see him as Bailey from Party of Five. He has such a cute family.
We had quite a few segments….in between segments, the warm up guy was cracking jokes. At one point he had some giveaways – his giveaway was from a past guest. He gave away a book and I was fortunate enough to get the last copy he gave out. Afterwards, taping continued and we were finally done. On our way out we got copies of Rachael Ray’s Everyday magazine… Someone was even outside giving tickets to Betheny…boy you sure could spend a whole day doing this! A fun day overall, even though the morning was quite stressful….good times good times…
