You are about to see a side of me you’ve never seen before…..I call it “Laticia’s side notes.” I don’t always write and talk about travel and new adventures. Sometimes, I talk about my other passions…..I love to be inspired and inspire others.
Most of you knew about my double whammy mother’s day weekend. I had to celebrate my dad’s birthday and mother’s day in the same weekend. It was a busy one but it was fun. And, I enjoyed every moment of it.
For my dad’s birthday, we went to Citifield to see the NY Mets play against the Philadelphia Phillies. Even though the Mets lost, it was still a good game. However, during the game, I did realize something interesting. At one point in the game, the Mets and the Phillies were tied 4 to 4. Each team had a golden opportunity to win the game. At the bottom of the 8th, the bases were loaded. And, the Mets needed 1 base hit to bring a man to home plate to get ahead of the Phillies. The Mets had 3 chances to get just 1 base hit. The mission wasn’t accomplished. The score remained tied. Then, at the top of the 9th the Phillies had the bases loaded. There were two outs on the board and Ryan Howard was at the bat with 2 strikes. It was a do or die moment. With 1 bat left, he hit the ball down the field and the Phillies won the game.
It’s funny how each team had the same opportunity. However, one team did the job while the other team didn’t come close. I know baseball isn’t easy. There are so many explanations as to why the Phillies won the game. But, I couldn’t believe how much the game reminded me about life in general. Think about it, the Mets had the bases loaded but the players were afraid to take risks. In life, we can have all the opportunities lined up in the right spots and we’ll be too afraid to take the extra steps to accomplish our goals. We need to be aware of that and have enough confidence in ourselves to go a step further. Now when the Phillies had the bases loaded, the players took advantage of running to more than one base at a time. And, even though Ryan Howard had 2 strikes with 2 outs on the board, he didn’t give up. In life, the odds may be stack up against you but if you have an opportunity then you are still in the game to make something incredible happen.
There’s nothing worse than living an unfulfilled life. As Helen Keller said, “Life is either daring adventure or nothing at all. I wanted to give you a glimmer of hope. I want to hear you thoughts. And, if you think it will help someone, then pass it along, Facebook and tweet it. That’s it for now… 🙂
Hugs,
