For this Halloween season, I didn’t go to Hershey Park, Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventures or a haunted house (that was last year). We wanted to do something different and we found it. We set our eyes on going to the Rise of the Jack O’ Lantern. It looked interested and we wanted to check it out. Well let me tell you, it blew me away. There were displays of over 5,000 lit pumpkins along the 1/4 mile trail. It was definitely better than I expected!
The Rise of the Jack O’ Lantern is an amazing and artistic experience. Professional artists and sculptors in the NY metro area created hand craved jack o’ lanterns and arranged them in an artistic way. All along the path, I saw so many exciting themes. When I first walked through the gates, I saw the Halloween theme and famous characters from all types of scary movies. Across the way was the NY theme displaying several NYC landmarks such as Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and the NYC skyline. Right next to it was the NYC Broadway theme showing Lion King, Les Miserable and Jersey boys. Further down the path, I saw cravings of famous actors and actresses, television shows, Disney princesses, sports stars from NY professional teams and huge dinosaur displays made entirely from lit jack o’ lanterns. As a grand finale, I walked through the ghost walk and ended up in the sea. No, not really in the sea…but at the end ghost walk, I walked into a blue lighting area surrounded by pumpkin carvings of crabs, jelly fishes, starfishes and everything else that belongs in the sea.
So if you missed the Rise of the Jack O’ Lantern, then I strongly encourage you to check it out next year. It’s astounding and it’ll be worth your time. I think you will be blown away like I was. And, you can still make plans to visit the haunted stuff too. Leave me a comment and tell me what your Halloween weekend looked like 🙂 I will love to hear it! Take care for now.
