You’ve heard me tell you time and time again about adding a little spice to your travel and adventure agenda. Now, here’s your moment…it’s all around you and you can’t escape it. It’s time for the World Series! How cool would it be to see the World Series live in action? I would love to see the World Series as well as the NBA finals, Superbowl and the Olympics. But enough about me, if your travelling shoes are taking you to the World Series, and then there are a few things you need to know about Kansas City and San Francisco. First of all, you want to know where to stay, where to eat and what to do (beside watching the baseball game). Well, here’s the inside scoop…..
For Kansas City, if you want to be close to Kauffman Stadium, then you might want to stay at Raphael Hotel. It has a charming, classy and elegant style without losing the Mid-west feel. And, it was voted as Travel and Leisure’s best hotels in 2014. However, if you want to be closer to the stadium, literally across the street, then you might want to consider staying at Four Points by Sheraton Sport Complex or Drury Inn & Suites.
As you may or may not know, Kansas City is known for their barbecue. You can find it everywhere around the city (close to the stadium, downtown or Westwood neighborhood). You can try it out at Gates Bar-B-Q, Arthur Bryant’s or Oklahoma Joe’s. They all claim to be the best. But, you can be the judge of that.
As far as what to do in KC, there’s the City Market, historic shopping spot downtown. It’s the place to shop. And, you can hit up the American jazz museum to learn about the musical history. Since it’s a baseball trip, you might as well go to the Negro leagues baseball museum.
If you heading over to San Francisco, then staying at Chancellor Hotel or Stanyan Park Hotel may be your ideal place. Both hotels are located in 2 popular parts of town. If you want to be closer to the water, then Hotel Vitale will be more up your alley.
San Francisco is seafood city. You can grab some great seafood at Catch or Anchor Oyster. But, there are other choices to such as Buena Vista and Esperpento to get delicious food without a heavy price tag.
What isn’t there to do in San Francisco? Here’s the “must do” list…..take a tour of the Alcatraz and see the seals at Pier 39, rent bikes and cycle the Golden State Bridge, visit the Palace of Fine Arts and take the Powell and Hyde cable car up Lombard street (the world’s most crooked street). That’ll definitely keep you busy before and after the game.
Well whoever you are rooting for, you have to represent your team, San Francisco Giants or Kansas City Royals with style. Who says sporty chicks can’t be fashionable? It’s what we do best!
I hope you get a chance to go. It’ll be exciting. 1 team is trying to accomplish an amazing goal by winning their 3rd World Series in 5 years and the other team is trying to win the World Series for the 1st time in nearly 3 decades. No matter how you slice it, history will be made. Well, leave a comment and tell me your thoughts and predictions. By the way, did you know it’s said that the team who wins the 3rd game wins the World Series (71% true based on past history). We’ll see what happens. Take care for now!
Hugs,
